Gladys has the latest Simpson’s catalogue and I am so envious. At her fingertips are all manner of items to be purchased without ever having to leave the house. Who would have thought that in 1914 you could get items delivered to your door, and without a delivery charge to boot. And Simpson’s says they’ll ship within one day of receiving an order. As we sat for coffee, I leafed through the pages.
The petticoats were stunning, and I could imagine myself wearing the green one with its deep flounce, gathered frills and dust ruffle. At a delivered price of $1.98, how could I resist?
Right then and there I knew I’d have to get a catalogue for myself.
I just hope a postcard request to the Robert Simpson Company will be sufficient. Fingers crossed.
